Walters and Cache girls upset the first-round apple cart in the Comanche County Basketball Tournament Monday at Great Plains Coliseum.
Walters presented Coach Sam Hale with the perfect birthday present by ousting third-seeded Indiahoma, 61-45.
Cache followed suit by rallying for a 49-40 victory over No. 3 Chattanooga in the final game of the evening.
The rest of the games followed the form chart with top-seeded Elgin turning back Geronimo, 77-15, and No. 2 Sterling stopping Fletcher, 48-17.
The boys take center stage tonight with four first-round games. Top-seeded Cache faces Geronimo in the 5 p.m. opener. Rounding out the card will be Sterling-Indiahoma at 6:20, Chattanooga-Elgin at 7:40 and Walters-Fletcher at 9.
Semifinals and consolation semis will be played Thursday for the girls and Friday for the boys. Consolation, third-place and championship contests are scheduled Saturday.
