The final week of the regular season, how fast has the time flown?
It seems like only yesterday we were here talking about the first game of the year and thinking of all the things that could have been.
This, the final week of the regular season falls on the Friday after Halloween, so plenty of puns could be sent around the campfire as we talk about the matchups and their implications this week.
Let's try to get this done quickly, there is a little boy in a Sharktopus costume waiting to get his first taste of Halloween fun, and I can't wait to get him out there.
The game with likely the biggest playoff implications is the Lawton High vs. Norman battle in Norman. It's going to be tough for the Wolverines to go up to Norman and knock off the Tigers, but since Norman already has a playoff spot wrapped up the Tigers may send in backups early and rest anyone with any nagging injuries, which for every team is a problem at this point. Just whether or not that will be the case nobody will know until Friday, but that could help Lawton High get a win and claim a playoff berth.
You can't help but feel bad for what happened to the Wolverine players and their such unbelievably bad luck. First the D.J. Ward situation takes aruguably the best player in the state off the team, then a string of injuries lead to Lawton High going from No. 1 by some pollsters (yours truly included) to out of the Top 10 and struggling to even make the playoffs.
This should have been the year for Lawton High, but now it's just one of those "what if" seasons you want to forget. Norman will get the win at home and end the Wolverines season. . . NORMAN 35, Lawton High 21...
