Getting needed experience
Sometimes blowout wins are actually beneficial.
In the MacArthur Highlanders win over Capitol Hill last Thursday, none of the starters saw action beyond the midway point of the second quarter. With so many starters graduating from both sides of the ball, getting in as many younger players when they can makes for a positive experience.
It also helps when you can finally play a full slate of junior varsity games as well.
"It seems like we always have trouble with people canceling JV games," Mac head coach Brett Manning said. "(Other teams) get some ineligibles or they get some injured guys and with some of these teams we play a few injuries can really hurt them. They can't play us and end up canceling. This year that wasn't the case, we got seven JV games in and had a couple of games where we got to play a lot of JV guys and this was one of them. It was good to get those guys in and the more experience they get the better."
