Quitting isn't an option, not for a second.
These days, when someone isn't getting enough playing time the easy way to go is just quit hang it up.
That's not life for MacArthur defensive linemen Omar Awad and Xavier Schucker.
Though they don't get a lot of playing time, Awad and Schucker are still a critical part of the team and their attitude means a lot to the coaching staff at Mac.
"It's hard as a senior to not get a lot of playing time, and I have a lot of respect for these guys because they have kept a positive attitude through that," Mac head coach Brett Manning said. "Sometimes people quit when they see the writing on the wall, and they haven't done that. They have kept a positive attitude and helped us out in practice and do whatever it takes to help our team out."
For both athletes, the Highlanders are more than a football team, they are a family. You just can't quit on family.
"This is my team," Schucker said. "I have grown up through high school with all of them. They are like my brothers, and I can't quit on them."
