Quarterback shuffle
Many who took in Thursday's game in Altus got a surprise when MacArthur starting quarterback Ricky McCarty was on the sideline in a baseball cap and a letterman's jacket.
The reason? A concussion suffered against Duncan.
It seems that McCarty will spend another week on the sidelines when Capitol Hill comes to town Thursday.
"He still had a headache Thursday and you are supposed to wait a week after your last headache," Mac head coach Brett Manning said.
But what it does do for the Highlanders is give crucial experience to Will Collins, who had success against Altus on Friday.
Collins was nervous at first, but really blossomed in the role.
"He did a great job," Manning said. "As the game went on, he got stronger and stronger and more confident. I think you could tell the difference in the way he played first half and second half."
Just a sophomore, Collins is getting valuable experience as the starter for the next two years.
