It's a bit of a rivalry week around the area for a few or our teams in the Lawton Constitution coverage area.
That means good games for fans to see and players to get excited about.
Two such games really stand out. The first is the annual Battle of the Wichitas between Cache and Elgin, but I'm not going to devote too much time to that here because fellow sporty Kyle Vrska will give that contest more coverage in his Friday column.
No, the game that this writer is focused on is the MacArthur-Duncan battle on Friday in Duncan.
Rivalry games like these are always the hardest to predict. You can see on paper that one team is just head and shoulders better than the other, but once they hit the field all those ideas quickly get thrown out the window as the underdog gets that early touchdown or big stop and all of a sudden you have a dogfight on your hands.
That's what I expect from the Mac-Duncan game.
On paper, the teams are very equal. Mac is the better offense with a three points per game average lead over the Demons. Duncan makes that back by having the better defense.
Both teams have had tough non-district slates and both are standing at 4-2. However, Duncan has yet to take on district leader Del City so the Demons have the No. 2 spot in 5A-2 for the moment.
