Burris,McCarty lead MacArthur to 44-18 win over Chickasha
All the big missions were certainly accomplished by the MacArthur Highlanders.
In their 44-18 win over Chickasha on Friday night in Cameron Stadium, the Highlanders were able to keep their starters in for most of the game to get good game reps, not get injured and play well in their final tune-up for Duncan.
"I was happy with the way we started," Mac head coach Brett Manning said. "We could have been better there in the second half, but we came out and jumped on them the way we wanted to."
The Highlanders are 4-2 overall and 2-1 in District 5A-1. Duncan enters next week's battle coming off a 28-14 win over Ardmore to set up next Friday's bout as a must-see.
However, there was plenty of action on the field at Cameron on last night, as Ricky McCarty finished 26 for 38 for 362 yards passing with four touchdowns. Each of those touchdowns went to different receivers as McCarty found Adrian Gaines (34 yards), Gary McKnight (41 yards), Miguel Rosario (13 yards) and Anthony Burris (10 yards) all in the first half to set the tone after Chichasha jumped out to an early lead.
"The difference was that we came to play tonight," McCarty said. "It was kind of slow there the first three minutes but once we got rolling we just picked up the pace and just kept scoring."
