Cameron University's young volleyball players grew up a little Saturday by fighting off Texas A&M-Commerce for a 3-1 Lone Star Conference victory in the Aggie gym.
Scores were 25-18, 28-26, 18-25 and 25-15.
The Ags couldn't sustain that momentum in the second game of the doubleheader, blowing a two-set advantage and a five-point fifth-set lead before losing a non-conference struggle to St. Mary's.
Scores were 19-25, 21-25, 25-22, 25-20 and 19-17.
Cameron improved to 2-5 in conference play and is 6-11 overall. Commerce is now 4-3 and 12-4. St. Mary's is 10-5..
The Aggies close out a four-game home stand when they host Midwestern State at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Next action in the CU gym will be Oct. 12-13.

Balance was a factor as the Aggies ended a three-match losing streak.
Sophomore Rebecca Green and freshman Shannon Dulaney paced Doug Tabbert's club with 15 kills apiece while frosh Annelise Carpenter and Kat Evans added 14 and 11, respectively. Junior setter Jenna Risoli had 47 assists and 12 digs and senior Julisa Ocasio had 30 digs. Junior Mariah Westlake added 16 digs and joined Ocasio with two aces.
