Adrian Gaines isn't intimidated by anything.
The only full time two-way starter for the MacArthur Highlandes, Gaines is also one of the smallest players on the team. However, that doesn't matter as his stature means nothing when he's coming right at you to get a tackle.
"I'm not intimidated by anybody," Gaines said. "If you are running the ball I am going to hit you in the mouth."
His head coach Brett Manning agrees being smaller means nothing.
"He does a great job," Manning said. "He's won the hammer award twice. He's a little guy, he's the smallest guy on the field almost every week, but he's also the most aggressive. He's one of the best tacklers."
Manning said that Gaines took up wrestling two years ago and has become a better tackler because of it.
Gaines is also the kind of player who will do everything for the Highlanders. Last year, he started the season as one of the outside linebackers, then he had to change position to safety.
