Opportunistic University of Incarnate Word cashed in on solid hitting and a plethora of Cameron errors Saturday to sweep a Lone Star Conference volleyball match from the Aggies in the CU gym.
Scores were 25-17, 28-26 and 25-22. CU is now 1-3 in league play and 5-7 overall. The San Antonio club is 2-2 and 5-7.
Senior Tina Chavis produced 10 of the Cardinals' 40 kills while hitting .333. Coach Jennifer Montoya's youngsters hit .205 overall while Cameron struggled with a .078 mark.
"We made too many errors," CU Coach Doug Tabbert said. "We netted probably five times in the first set. We're still making a lot of hitting errors; some of them are unforced. Until we learn to clean that up, we're going to have some issues."
Cameron was charged with 27 attack errors, four service errors and six receiving mistakes. UIW numbers were 16, four and six.
The Ags were led by freshmen Shannon Dulaney, Annelise Carpenter and Kat Evans with nine kills each. Carpenter led the regulars with a .200 average.
Chavis received ample support from Angelique Vidaurri and Stephanie Bonura with eight kills each.
Julisa Ocasio had 19 digs and Mariah Westlake 10 for Cameron; Lind had 16 and Lydia Werchan 15 for the Cardinals.
