Tuesday afternoon, I was in my own little world hard at work at my desk when I heard a voice, very faint at first. It was saying, "It's football season."
At first I didn't pay any attention to the voice because I was in my own world and because the Yankees are currently trying to fall flat on their faces and I'm completely worried about that.
"It's football season." It was still very faint and I continued to ignore it because it couldn't possibly be football season, I mean its August! It's still baseball season right?
Then the voice started to sound familiar. Finally on the fourth try, the voice snapped me out of my alternate reality and back into the real world.
"Kyle, are you there? You know it's football season now and it starts this week, right?" It was our esteemed sports editor Joey Goodman, AKA my boss.
Now, I'm going to pass that information along to the readership. It's football season. How did this happen? Where did the time go? It seems like just two months ago that I was watching Anadarko playing for the state title in Stillwater, but it was actually over eight months ago. Fascinating.
With that in mind, welcome back to the weekly area football preview. It has (from what I hear) been a long time since this piece has been written. The hope is to keep you entertained (though this intro probably hasn't done it) throughout the season which should see several teams compete late into November.
There's only one tip for this week: dress cooly these first few weeks. It's gonna be hot.
