Gospel Fest slated at Moore First
Christmas will come a few months early this year during KALEO Tours eighth annual Gospel Fest Aug. 30 at Moore First Baptist Church.
This year's Gospel Fest will be a little different from previous years. Instead of having three performers in the morning and three in the afternoon, Gospel Fest will open its doors at 11 a.m. and begin with three performers at noon and break for an intermission at 2 p.m. After refreshments, Gospel Fest will start again with the featured performer Mark Lowry with special guest The Martins and pianist Stan Whitmire. This year's theme is "Christmas in August."
"We have a different theme every year," said Glenda Carr, owner of KALEO Tours, "and Mark wrote the song 'Mary Did You Know?' and of course, we're going to want him to sing that. So we're asking all the entertainers to at least do one Christmas song."
Other performers include: the Burchfield Brothers, a multi-instrumental duo out of Nashville; Master's Touch, a southern gospel/inspirational Native American trio from Oklahoma City; and husband and wife gospel music duo Dale and Mike Bishop out of Arkansas. As part of the Christmas spirit, KALEO Tours requests all those who attend to provide a toy for Oklahoma City nonprofit The Children's Network, which provides toys for children at Christmastime.
