Wesley Darin Abshier
ANADARKO Wesley Darin Abshier, 51, Anadarko, moved into eternity on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, at an Oklahoma City hospital following a brief illness.
Celebration of life memorial service for Wesley will be at 2 p.m. Friday., March 9, 2018, at Square Top Baptist Church, Anadarko.
From a very young age, He was the "little brother" to three neighborhood friends: Buddy, Bryan and Justin Doughty. Wesley maintained a special bond to them all of his life.
Wesley was preceded in death by his sister, Stacey Abshier Anderson.
Wesley was born Dec. 21, 1966, in Duncan. In 1967, his family moved to Anadarko, where he lived most of his life. He lived several years in Apache before moving back to Anadarko. He started school at Washita and finished his schooling at Anadarko Public Schools. Wesley was a born-again Christian and member of Square Top Baptist Church in Anadarko. His love and fear of the Lord never faltered.
From the time Wesley was two or three-years-old, he discovered he could take apart every toy car or truck that he had in the toy box. Surprisingly he could also put them back together again. That set him on a job career path that he always returned to as an auto and diesel mechanic. Wes also loved horticulture and worked in landscaping design and lawn care for several years. He had a love for dogs and owned several throughout his lifetime. Wes leaves his dog, Buster behind to be cared for by a friend. Wesley loved hunting with friends and riding motorcycles with them.
Wesley is survived by his daughter, Tiffany Chapman and husband Jonathon of Franklin, N.C.; his parents: Elmer and Irene Abshier of Anadarko; special friend, Becky McCay of Apache; Isiah McPherson of his home; and three grandchildren. He also leaves behind five aunts, several beloved cousins and many friends. All of his friends and family have very special memories of Wes that they will carry all of their lives.
