Wendell Lee Zachary
Wendell Lee Zachary, 89, passed away Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, after a long and debilitating disease.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, at Moore's Southlawn Chapel, Tulsa.
He was born Aug. 13, 1928, to the late Roy and Lorma Zachary in Marlow. Wendell was raised in Lawton, finishing Lawton High in 1946, and graduating from the University of Oklahoma in 1951 where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Wendell married Barbara Jane Johnson of Bartlesville in 1953. They had one child, Leigh Ann Zachary, in 1955. Wendell was called into service for the U.S. Air Force the same year. After completion of service, the family settled in Bartlesville, where he worked for Cities Service Oil Co. He relocated to Tulsa in 1964 and retired from Cities Service/Occidental Petroleum in 1984.
He is survived by his daughter, Leigh Z. Rorschach; son-in-law, Thomas D. Rorschach; grandson, Daniel K. Rorschach and eight nieces and nephews: Cindy Lund Joyner, Judy Lund Dunlap and husband Wes, John McNulty, Molly McNulty Chitwood and husband Tom, George Nassaney and wife Jeanette, Chesley Nassaney, Bryan Payer and Julia Finney.
Wendell was preceded in death by his sister, Oteka Zachary Lund; half sister, JoAnne Nassaney Payer; nephew, Timothy P. McNulty; niece, Lisa Lund Horvath; and most recently by his wife, Barbara, in 2016.
Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at the funeral home. The family will receive friends with a reception from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, at the funeral home.
