STERLING A time of fun and celebration of the life of Roy Don Davis, 69, Sterling, will be from 2-4 p.m. today at the family home. Please remember the good times you had with Don and enjoy life as he did.
Mr. Davis passed away Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, in Duncan.
Roy Donald Davis was born Aug. 14, 1934, in County Line to Juanita and Delbert Davis. He moved to California at the age of 8 and was raised by his grandparents, Pearl and Frank Seely. Don was in the Army from 1955-57. After an honorable discharge, he became a hair stylist working in California and Colorado before moving to Tishomingo and opening a business where he was known as the "Hippy Barber."
Don and Wilma Warner Thompson and son Bart were married June 8, 1973, in Selma, Calif. They lived in the Tishomingo and Millburn area where he farmed and was in poultry and egg production for many years before moving to the Sterling area in 1990. In 1985, Don, Wilma, and Bart added Stacey to their family and had many, many happy times together. Wilma, Bart, Stacey, and his grandsons were the loves of his life and the roles of Dad and Papa were his passion and joy.
Don is survived by his wife, of the Sterling home; daughter, Stacey Jay and her husband Wes, Sterling; son, Bart Thompson and his wife Sue, Sterling; five grandsons: Matt Thompson, Durant; Lucas Thompson, Jacob Thompson, Alec Jay, and Tristan Jay, all of Sterling; three brothers: Jack and Bill Thacker, both of Velma; and Jim Davis and his wife Theda, Amarillo, Texas; two sisters: Barbara Gilby and her husband Bud, Velma; and Wanda McIntosh and her husband Jim, Forney, Texas; special cousins, Frank Dark, Sterling, and Bob and Audry Cross, Omaha, Neb.; his hunting buddies: Bubby, Pat, Patsy, Ronnie, Donnie and Bob Moore, of Fillmore; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
