Robert "Bob" Louis Richardson
OKLAHOMA CITY Memorial services to celebrate the life of Robert "Bob" Louis Richardson, 69, Oklahoma City, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, at the South Colonial Chapel.
Robert "Bob" Louis Richardson passed away Nov. 24, 2017. He was born July 22, 1948, in Hobart to Leon and Thelma (Cook) Richardson. He grew up and attended school in Snyder. After graduating from high school, he received a scholarship from Oklahoma State University, where he earned his bachelor's degree and played both baseball and basketball. He then furthered his education at Southwestern State University, where he received his master's degree. Mr. Richardson taught history and science for the Oklahoma Secondary Public School system for over 30 years. He also served as executive secretary for the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Association for 10 years, and he officiated basketball and football throughout his career. He also worked for the FBI for 2 years.
On March 15, 2011, he married Susan (Pope) Richardson, and together they enjoyed spending time with their family, traveling, gardening and watching OSU sports. Mr. Richardson also enjoyed reading nonfiction, sports and history novels. He was a long time member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. He was an avid lover of animals and always wanted to make a difference in young people's lives.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Richardson; his daughter, Sarah Smith and husband, Barry, and their children, Garrett, Madison, and Jack of Weatherford, Texas; step children: Molly Gorney and husband, George, and their children, Isabella and Charlotte of Dallas; sister, Jane Jones; aunt, Nell Marie Richardson of North Carolina; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joe Richardson.
