Norma Joe Kuykendall
Graveside service for Norma Joe Kuykendall, 81, Lawton, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pecan Cemetery (go down Lee Blvd. and turn south on 82nd Street, go 4 miles south to Pecan Road, turn right and go 3 miles west) with Pastor Mike Williamson officiating.
Mrs. Kuykendall went to her heavenly home Friday, April 4, 2014, in Lawton.
Burial will be under direction of Comanche Nation Funeral Home.
Norma was born Nov. 4, 1932, at Fort Sill, the first of three children, of Mansel Joe Buck and Margaret Gladys Deeds. She attended school at Fort Sill Elementary and Lawton High School.
She lived most of her life in Lawton, where she raised her family. She was a homemaker until her children were grown. Norma then went to work at Comanche County Memorial Hospital as a surgical technician until her retirement in 1996. She was a faithful, active member of Northside Baptist Church.
Norma was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She loved her church and all its members. She never turned down a request from anyone who'd ask for help or to drive them to medical appointments and all other errands that was asked of her. Norma will be loved and missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include a son, Jerald Lane, Lawton; a daughter, Diane Yokem, Oklahoma City; four grandsons: Jason Knight, Nathan Lane, James Highberg and Jory Patton; a brother, Thomas Wells and wife Judy, Kansas; a sister-in-law, Rita Wells, Lawton; many close friends: Teresa Tyler, David Tyler, Donna Tyler who considered Norma as their second mother; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Kuykendall; her parents; a daughter, Cheryl Jo Lane; a son, Tommy Don Lane; a brother, Billy Paul Wells; and a daughter-in-law, Brenda Silverhorn Lane.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the funeral home.
