Jerome H. Compton
Jerome H. Compton, 72, Lawton, passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018.
Jerome was born on Aug. 29, 1945, in Cairo, Ill., to Andrew and Corrine (Phillips) Compton. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1965 and proudly served his country as a Lance Missile Crewmember until he retired in 1990. While in the Army, Jerome was trained to speak German and received numerous commendations, medals and awards, during the Vietnam Campaign, including The Army Service Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm and The Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal along with many others.
He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Corrine Compton and his sister, Argie Jean.
Survivors include two sons, Jeff Jones and Robert Angel White Compton, Il.; three brothers, Raymond Compton of Peoria, Ill., Johnny Compton of Meritta, Ga., Charles Leroy Compton of Renton, Wash.; and two sisters, Renee Denise and Debbie Gilispi, both of Peoria, Illinois; along with many other relatives and close friends.

The family will have a visitation from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018, at Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2018, at Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow at Fort Sill National Cemetery.
