James W. Murphy
Funeral for James W. Murphy, 83, Lawton, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, at First Baptist West with the Rev. Harold Gaches, pastor, officiating.
Burial with military honors will follow in Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, under direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.
James. W. Murphy passed away Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, at his home.
James was born Aug.17, 1934, at Pittsburg, Okla., to William and Annie Murphy. He was a member of First Baptist West. James served in the Army from 1950 to 1952 and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1952 to 1966, a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
After serving in the military, he worked for Santa Fe International Drilling, working in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Egypt. He later worked for Parker Drilling in Brazil and for E.W. Moran Drilling in Wichita Falls, Texas. He then worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, where he retired in 2000.
James was known for always being ready to help his family, friends and neighbors at any time, using his training from work which included air conditioning and heating, mechanical abilities, small repairs or in any other capacity that might be needed. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be so missed by his family and friends.
James is survived by his wife, Louise of 63 years; his son, Jackie and wife Tammy, his son, Randy and wife Ginger, his daughter, Suzanne and her husband Brad; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Gerald and his wife Alice.
He was preceded in death by his parents: William and Annie Murphy, six brothers and one sister.
