Edward Wayne Kent

Kent, Edward Wayne was born Feb. 3, 1935 in Frederick. Wayne lived a long and honorable life, marked by his unwavering faith and dedication to his wife, Shirley. Mr. Kent left us to be with Jesus while surrounded by friends and family in Santa Fe, New Mexico on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, while celebrating the return of his most cherished holiday, Thanksgiving.

Services will be held at the at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, First Baptist Church of Frederick 201 E. Grand Avenue, . Wayne was a proud, lifelong resident of his beloved hometown of Frederick, where he spent most days tending to his crops and cattle as a well-known farmer/rancher. On Sundays you'd find him singing along at the First Baptist Church of Frederick, of which he was an active and contributing member.

Saturdays were spent rooting for the University of Oklahoma (Go Sooners!), and nearly every day he'd make a stop at the local coffee shop to visit with friends.

Wayne is survived by Shirley, his devoted and loving wife of 62 years; sister Marilyn Hullender; daughter and son-in-law Kayla and Brian Roughton; granddaughter Devan Roughton and grandson Brian Roughton Jr. and his wife Stephanie.

He is preceded in death by sisters Charlsa Gant and Karen Gilliland.
