Bob was called home early Tuesday morning, Nov. 28, 2017, from his home in Midwest City.
Bob entered this life on Sept. 13, 1934, in Walters, the beloved son of Violet Yellowfish Nauni and Raymond Nauni Sr. He was their firstborn, and the first grandson of Ruby Suwybitten Nauni. He grew up in Walters, graduated from Walters High School in 1952, and then attended Haskell Indian School, where he met the love of his life, Margaret L. McElroy. They did everything together throughout their lives, and were happily married for 59 years. Bob joined the Air Force in 1957, earned the Bronze Star for his service in Bien Hoa Vietnam as Air Force Intelligence, and retired in 1977.
He then attended the University of Oklahoma, and graduated in 1988 with a bachelor's degree in business. He worked for various Indian Health Centers, and after working at the Oklahoma City area office of Indian Health Service, he retired a second time. He was vice chairman of the election board for the Comanche Tribe, and was a lifelong member of the Comanche Reformed Church in Lawton. Bob was an avid Sooner fan, and an exceptional straight dancer. He especially loved reading, spoiling his beloved beagle, Lenny, and spending time with his family.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter, Kathryne Marie Nauni, of the home; his son, Bobby Charles Nauni and Mitzi and Mia Jones, of Midwest City; his grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Eric Charles Nauni and Rianna Michelle Nauni, of Midwest City; his great-grandson, August T. Bibbs-Nauni; three sisters: Marion Simmons, Gwen Brinkman, and Christine McCarthy; two brothers: Raymond "Dink" Nauni Jr., and Vandell Nauni; his aunt, Rose Nauni; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, extended family, and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by a loving wife, Margaret L Nauni; his parents: Raymond Nauni Sr. and Violet Yellowfish Nauni; his maternal grandparents: Timothy and Emma Eckiwardy Penockquoddy Yellowfish; his paternal grandparents: Harry Pevodah and Ruby Suwybitten Nauni; his niece, Violetta Rae "Pepper" Gonzales; his aunt and uncle, Velma and Rudy Akoneto; his uncles: Haddon Nauni Sr., and Clinton Nauni; and brother, Willis L. Nauni.
