Barbara June Bailey
Word has been received of the death of former Indiahoma resident, Barbara June Bailey, 79.
A private graveside service will be held at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Indiahoma.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, at Indiahoma High School Auditorium.
Barbara June (Baker) Bailey was born in Cement to John H. Baker and Marguerite (Busby) Baker on Jan. 5, 1938.
She passed from this life on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017, in Oklahoma City.
Barbara was raised in the Cement and Cyril communities and graduated in 1955 from Cyril High School. She married Bruce R. Bailey Jr. in Gainesville, Texas, on May 12, 1956. She graduated from USAO in Chickasha in 1966 with a degree in home economics, and taught at Indiahoma for 25 years until her retirement in 1992. She served as the mayor of Indiahoma for 18 years as well as serving on multiple local community improvement organizations including class sponsor and FHA/YHO advisor for the school system. After retirement, she served as volunteer coordinator of Community Hospice. She impacted many lives in many different ways over her years and will be greatly missed.
She leaves to cherish her memory: son, Bruce Bailey III and wife Kristy of Tuttle; daughter, Sonya Kemnitz and husband John of Melissa, Texas; grandchildren: Daniel and Rebecca Bailey, and Grant, Layne and MacKinzie Kemnitz; sister, Linda Abel and husband Dick; stepmother, Wanda Mayne; brothers-in-law: Bill Bailey and wife Jan, and Kyle Jonas; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Patsy Jonas; nephew, Michael Jonas; and very special aunt, Mary Baker.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Alzheimers Research Foundation.
