The cultural mosaic of campus life at Cameron University was on display in the McCasland Ballroom Thursday afternoon during the annual Diversity Day celebration.
Taylor Thompson, coordinator of diversity affairs at CU, said 13 different campus organizations took part in the event. Many of them gave away food from their native countries or performed relevant forms of entertainment for the audience.
Among the campus organizations participating were the Ebony Society, the Nigerian Association, the Nepal Association, the Muslim Association, the Students of the Caribbean Alliance, the International Student Club, Cameron University Secular Students (CUSS) and CU Pride (gay/straight alliance).
Four outside organizations also attended the Buffalo Soldiers, the Mexican Folkloric Dancers, Riverside Indian School and Ahava Belly Dancers.
The theme for this year's celebration was "The More You Know, the More You Grow Water the Garden," Thompson said.
