Ever wonder where the Great Pumpkin might be when it isn't visiting Linus in his very sincere pumpkin patch?
Well, this year the Great Pumpkin is at Almor West Elementary School.
Almor West will raffle off a 75-pound pumpkin at 8:45 a.m. Friday at a school assembly, according to kindergarten teacher Donna Martin, who is heading up the fundraiser. Two normal-sized pumpkins will be given away to two other drawing winners.
Tickets are available for $1 each, said Martin. All money raised will go to help with expenses at Almor West.
Martin said the ginormous gourd was donated by Terry Turner, whose granddaughter, Jordynn Mabbit, is a student in her class.
Turner donated the plump pumpkin after hearing about the lack of money at his granddaughter's school because of the ongoing budget crunch.
