The latest addition to the Cameron University campus will make its public debut today.
Cameron officials will officially dedicate its new Academic Commons building at 5:30 p.m.
The Commons occupies the former student union building, south of the Cameron Library. The building has been completely renovated and is now the home of the Communication Department's Convergence Journalism program. It houses state-of-the-art newsrooms for the Cameron Collegian newspaper and CUTV broadcast studios.
The Commons also houses the Sarkeys Foundation Student Computer Laboratory, the student tutoring center, a campuswide information technology help desk, classrooms and a lounge for Greek organizations.
Members of the University of Oklahoma, Cameron University and Rogers State University Board of Regents will be present for the dedication and the chair of the regents, Dr. Leslie Rainbolt-Forbes, will be speaking. Cameron President Cindy Ross and Tiffany Martinez, a senior communication major at Cameron, also will speak at the dedication.
