Lawton's Harley-Davidson shop has a new owner, a new name, a new appearance and a new commitment to quality.
Now named Wind River Harley-Davidson, owner Mat Ratliff said customers will notice immediate changes when they come into the store at 301 SE Interstate.
"The name and the attitude are the big changes," he said. "All of our employees are enthusiastic and are willing to help. Everyone is glad to be here and we want to have fun and make it a fun place to come."
Ratliff officially assumed ownership of the dealership March 25. He spent more than two years aspiring to purchase it from its previous owner. Now that it's in his hands, he's glad that a local owner was able to take control of Lawton's only dealership of the premier motorcycle.
"I told him that if he ever decided to sell it, that I wanted him to consider me and give me first shot, and he did," Ratliff said. "I think it's better for everyone if a local person owned it. The past two owners were from out of town and I think it's better for everyone in the community if someone local owns it."
Harley fans or those simply looking for a new motorcycle will find a wide selection of bikes available for purchase. In addition, they can purchase rider wear or get their bikes upgraded, serviced and road worthy. Ratliff invested a tremendous amount in improving the service shop so that when someone purchases a Harley at Wind River, they know where to take it if there are any issues or if they want to upgrade it.
