ALTUS A $190,000 ag facility to be built by Western Oklahoma State College is expected to be in use by early 2013 in time for the start of the spring semester.
WOSC President Phil Birdine said that the facility will be 15,000 square feet in size and will feature a concrete slab floor in a structure to be constructed of brick and mortar He said some three-fourths of the new building will be used to house and feed livestock in corrals. It also will include a classroom that measures 30x30 in size that will have a capacity for up to 30 students.
The facility will be located some 5 miles north of the college campus at the college's rodeo arena, which is located on U.S. 283 about halfway between Altus and Blair.
"It's something that's been in the works for a few years. Fortunately, we now have the funding to build it. Thanks to management of our resources, we were able to get it designed and go out for bids," he said.
Birdine said that the new facility will be a great improvement over the existing one. The construction will be funded through the college's general fund along with a 700 fund.
