GERONIMO With one book of a series already on the bookshelves, Sara Barnard is on a four-book roll.
The mother of four children ages 7, 5, 3, 1 and the wife of a Fort Sill soldier, she said she still finds time to write, not only historical romances but also children's books.
She graduated from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin with a degree in history. "History and writing are my two loves, so I just combined them."
She said she starting working on these books while her husband was deployed to Afghanistan.
Set series during Civil War
"I just wrote about my thoughts and feelings while he was gone and then put them in a Civil War setting," Barnard said. "Even though the setting is during the Civil War, they are not based on a North vs. South theme. They are about people trying to get through a difficult time in their life."
This book, "A Heart on Hold" is on book shelves and the second in the series, "Heart Broken" will be released in January.
"I am currently working on the fourth book," Barnard said.
She said while she was researching information about the Civil War for the books she ran across a Capt. E.A. Adams who was a prisoner of war in a Confederate prison in the North.
