Candidates are being sought for eight open positions on the Kiowa Business Committee as well as housing commissioners for the upcoming December election.
The Kiowa Tribe Election Board will conduct the special election Dec. 22. Along with officers, several tribal issues will be determined and put on the ballot for consideration, said Dwayne Davis, election board chairman.
Deadline for filing for candidacy is 5 p.m. Nov. 9. All qualified registered members of the Kiowa Tribe may vote, Davis said. Polling sites will be announced at a later date.
All members of the Kiowa Tribe over the age of 21 are eligible to serve as officers by the election or appointment except for those persons previously convicted in a court of competent jurisdiction of a felony involving dishonesty, or any Kiowa member who is indebted delinquently to the tribe in excess of two years, Davis said.
