A 51-year-old Mountain View man known to his buddies as "Butcher Knife" could face up to life imprisonment if convicted of a violent assault.
Information charging Carl Emerson Hainta with aggravated assault and battery was filed Monday in Caddo County District Court. Additional information about his prior assault convictions was entered into the court record and makes him eligible for the life sentence: He was convicted of assault and battery with a deadly weapon in April 1993 and aggravated assault and battery after former conviction of two or more felonies in February 2011, according to court records.
Woman suffers broken nose, concussion
Hainta was arrested in Anadarko Friday after he punched a woman in the face at least three times, breaking her nose and causing a concussion, according to an affidavit filed in court. Anadarko Police Officer Eric Harlan said he was called to the Arrowhead Apartments, 201 W. Market Street, shortly before 7 p.m. and met Hainta, a woman and another man. The woman was bleeding from her face and had swelling around her nose and eye, and she said Hainta assaulted her and she wanted to file charges before being transported to the hospital emergency room.
Hainta had blood on his hands and arms and his shirt was covered with blood spatter, Harlan said. Though Hainta denied assaulting the woman, Harlan took him into custody.
