A 30-year-old Elgin man remains in critical condition after he was found along the side of a county road Monday morning following a violent motorcycle wreck.
Chris J. Cunningham remains in critical condition at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City with internal trunk and spinal injuries, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Cunningham was discovered by a motorist shortly before 9 a.m. Monday as he was lying off Watts Road, three-tenths mile west of U.S. 277. Trooper Cody Jackson said it appears Cunningham was driving a motorcycle westbound on Watts Road when, for unknown reasons, he went off the asphalt roadway to the right, struck a dirt embankment and was thrown approximately 15 feet while the bike continued through a fence and finally struck a tree. The bike skidded 183 feet, according to the trooper.
