FLETCHER Teachers, staff and students have started the school year with a new superintendent, but he's not new to the area.
Randy Harris was hired in July to replace former Superintendent Kristy Ehlers who in turn had replaced Kathleen Turner who retired December 2011.
Harris was the Cache High School principal for five years before he went to Middleberg School District, near Blanchard, for one year as superintendent and principal.
He said he has 17 years of education experience, the last seven as an administrator.
"One of the reasons why I came to Fletcher is we enjoyed living in Southwest Oklahoma and the Wichita Mountains, so, when the opportunity arose, I took advantage," Harris said.
This school year has found Shane Gilbreath, who had been the middle and high school principal, moving to the elementary school as principal and Matt Riggs hired as the high school principal.
One of the things Harris said he likes about Fletcher is there are a lot of good things already in place including the teachers, students and the community.
"I have really high expectations, but I also believe in lots of encouragement and lots of praise."
Harris said he is also encouraged the school district has the possibility of growth due to its proximity to Elgin, Lawton and Fort Sill.
