ELDORADO A long list of events and activities is planned for the first Eldorado Courier Main Event scheduled for Oct. 27 in the downtown area of this small Jackson County town.
Activities will kick off at 8:30 a.m. with a family fun day and registration for a motorcycle poker run. Prizes will be awarded for the best and lowest hand and drawings for numerous other prizes.
A barbecue cook-off is also planned. Cooks are encouraged to enter and cook entrees of their choice with the varied cuisine to be judged by the public and votes to be turned in by 3 p.m. Those attending the event can purchase a hand stamp which will allow them to sample from each cook and then vote for their favorite dish. Prizes for the cook-off will include an outdoor grill for the first-place winner and cooking utensils for those who place second and third. Cooks are permitted to set up as early as 6 p.m. Oct. 26, the night before.
The Car Shine and Show will start at noon. It is open to classic car owners in Eldorado, surrounding areas of Southwest Oklahoma and North Texas, and elsewhere. Contact person is Tim Springs at (580) 633-2725.
