A Carnegie man has been sentenced to 42 months in prison after pleading guilty to a federal weapons charge, U.S. Attorney Sanford C. Coats announced.
James H. Halberg, 37, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Timothy D. DeGiusti after Halberg pleaded guilty to being a convicted felon illegally in possession of firearms and ammunition at his home near Carnegie, Coats said in a news release.
According to court records, during a traffic stop on June 24, 2009, Halberg admitted he had a shotgun at his residence. Further investigation revealed that Halberg had previously been convicted of a felony and that he had the following firearms and ammunition illegally in his possession at his home a half mile south of the Kiowa Tribal Headquarters: a .357-caliber magnum revolver, a .22-caliber revolver, and ammunition for those weapons.
