WALTERS Area organizations are lucky recipients of grants from the Cotton Electric Charitable Foundation.
The third quarter grants in the amount of $7,944 came from Cotton Electric members who rounded up their electric bills to the nearest dollar each month.
According to Karen Kaley on average each participating member contributes about $6 per year.
The funds are pooled and administered by the Cotton Electric Charitable Foundation. A board of directors meets quarterly to consider grant applications.
This quarter the Grandfield Senior Citizens Center received the largest grant in the amount of $2,600. They will use this money to buy a commercial grade refrigerator.
Big Pasture Public Schools will purchase an automated external defibrillator and alarm cabinet with a $2,049 CECF grant.
