WALTERS  City of Walters officials want residents to be aware the information mailed to them from a company named HomeServe is not coming from the city.

"The City of Walters is not endorsing this coverage nor are we partnered with HomeServe," said City Manager John Sheppard.

According to Sheppard the company is mailing out flyers encouraging purchasing insurance coverage of water service lines.

The homeowner is only responsible from the water meter to the house, with the city's responsibility being the rest of the lines, he said.

"The flyers look almost like we endorse this insurance but it's a private company and we don't have anything to do with it," he said.
