ALTUS The Altus Chamber of Commerce presented awards and introduced its 2012 officers and directors during the Chamber's 104th annual banquet Thursday night at the Altus High School Cafetorium.
Rodger Kerr, outgoing chairman of the Chamber board, was presented the Chairman's Plaque by incoming chairman Rick Vernon. Kerr received the plaque in recognition for outstanding service during the past year.
In addition to receiving his award, Kerr also presented plaques to outgoing Chamber directors. They include Bonnie McAskill, Gregg Buck, and Mike Weber.
Gov. Mary Fallin, who served as keynote speaker at Thursday's banquet, was presented the Altus Award by Vernon and State Sen. Mike Schulz of Altus. This award is presented annually to people who continually go the extra mile, recognizing Fallin for 25 years working for the growth and development of the state of Oklahoma.
Vernon and Kerr also presented Fallin a framed lithograph of "The Vision Seeker," a life-sized bronze statue located in the East City Park and sponsored by the Altus Public School Foundation. The artist of "The Vision Seeker" is Harold Holden of Kremlin.
