A Comanche man is in jail on a half-million dollar bond for a Monday night melee that involved gunplay.
Robert Andrew Zimmerman, 42, made his first appearance Wednesday in the Stephens County District Court where he was charged with a felony count of shooting with intent to kill. The crime is punishable by up to life imprisonment, according to court records.
Zimmerman was arrested by Comanche Police following the incident in the 100 block of Walnut Ave. around 8:13 p.m. on Monday, according to the affidavit.
Zimmerman and Brenda Kincannon had been arguing at the home through the day and when Kincannon's son, Gerald Zupper Jr., arrived at 8:10 p.m., Zupper approached Zimmerman in the bedroom and asked him to come out of the house and talk, according to the affidavit. Zimmerman refused and ordered Zupper to leave. Things escalated when Zupper yelled at the elder man and Zimmerman responded by pulling a handgun from behind his back. Zupper shoved Zimmerman onto a bed while the gun was drawn and a fight ensued into the hallway, the affidavit states. When Zupper shoved Zimmerman's gun hand into the air, a shot went off into the ceiling.
