STERLING It's fall rendezvous time and the Beaver Creek Free Trappers are holding their semi-annual "get-together." They invite area residents to join them.
This three-day event includes various types of contests, camping, both primitive and trailer along with vendors selling a variety of wares.
Food will not be available for sale during the weekend, but it's only a short distance into Sterling, said Beaver Creek Free Trapper member Frank Kuntz.
For those who would like a glimpse of life in the pre-1840's visitors are welcome to come on Saturday to the site at no cost.
Competitions will take place 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. both Friday and Saturday with prizes being awarded on Sunday.
They include a novelty shoot, pistol shoot, rifle shoot, hawk throw and knife throw.
In the past they have had a fire-starting contest, but, with a state-wide burn ban in effect, that contest has been canceled this year.
Also those who are camping must use propane or charcoal to cook as wood fires are not allowed during a burn ban.
