FREDERICK Tillman County native Richard McCullough will be at the Pioneer Townsite Museum throughout Saturday to sign copies of his new book, "Peaceful Valley: A Portrait of a Prairie Town and the Legacy of Small Town America."
The book is filled with stories, photos and interesting information about the history of Tipton and western Tillman County from pre-settlement through 1950. The book is more than 500 pages and sells for $55.
McCullough's research for the book spanned several years and included many one-on-one interviews. He was able to capture many stories from the area's past. "Peaceful Valley" is actually the first book in what will eventually be a two-volume set. McCullough's next book project will cover the area's history from 1950 to the present. "Peaceful Valley" will be available for sale at the Pioneer Townsite Museum on a permanent basis after Saturday.
