Thousands of comic books taken in break-in

Thieves stole thousands of comic books in a recent local theft.

According to Lawton Police Department records, an unidentified victim called police Tuesday afternoon to report a theft at 902 NW 21st Street.

The suspect(s) cut the lock from the unit and stole some property, including 3,000 comic books dating back to the 1960s. The books were said to be in mint condition.

Police have just assigned the case, so they haven't yet been able to search any online sites or bookstores for possible sales of the comic books. It's not known whether any of the books were rare or highly sought.
