Tonight intriguing for area hoopsters

Last week's weather threw the high school basketball playoffs schedule into a tailspin, but it sure makes tonight intriguing.

This week gets started off with a bang as half the field for the upcoming Class A and Class B State tournaments  which tip off this Thursday at the Fairgrounds and throughout the OKC metro  is still left to be filled.

So if you didn't get enough basketball this weekend, don't worry. You're about to get a second and third helping.

One theme that kept reappearing this weekend was the close friendships of coaches and the bittersweet realization of having to go through each other in order to survive and advance.

For now, we'll start with the State tickets still to be punched tonight in Class A and Class B. Four area Southwest Oklahoma teams  the Cyril girls and boys (A), the three-time defending state champion Ft. Cobb boys (A) and the Duke boys (B) have already booked a spot at the Big House.

There will be at least five area teams playing in the State tourneys this weekend, but there could be as many as seven teams if the cards fall right.

Who will join them? Let's dive in.
