RollerGirls drop finale
ROUND ROCK, Texas A tough season came to its finale as the 580 RollerGirls found bright spots with their final bout for 2017.
The RollerGirls, now 4-7 for the season, fell in a bout to the Rockin' City team of Round Rock, 277-82. Team leader Marie Berberea, a.k.a. Molly Meet Your Maker, said the loss of seven skaters over the season caused this to be a rough one.
"This was a rough season," Berberea said. "Still had a blast."
With 10 skaters on the roster, 580 traveled to Round Rock with a chip on its shoulder as the No. 240-ranked Lawton squad was battling Rockin' City, ranked No. 152 in the latest Women's Flat Track Derby Association rankings. It was a tough go with 580 trailing at the half, 128-44. They pushed themselves before falling by the final score, Berberea said.
"We actually did better than anticipated; we beat the point spread," Berberea said. "It was really good for us to go up against a much higher ranked team because of all the things they taught us."
