Kids brave cold, bring home archery trophies
Arrows were flying and kids were doing their best at the annual Kiwanis Archery tournament Saturday at the Great Plains Coliseum.
Although it was bitterly cold, kids from the Lawton area and other Oklahoma communities attended, and many were awarded for their efforts.
According to Rafael Santos, coordinator of the event, it was the fourth annual tournament held in Lawton.
"We have lots of kids attend this tournament, and we want to thank all the volunteers who are here to help things run smoothly," Santos said.
"We really do appreciate the volunteers who come out to this tournament," said Kiwanian Dede Armes. "We have 22 volunteers here today who are members of the United States Marine Corps."
Two scholarships were awarded to the top male and female shooters.
