F&F Finals Rodeo begins Friday at Duncan Expo Center
DUNCAN With a four-day county free fair, livestock show and carnival already underway, residents and visitors to Stephens County have found plenty of entertainment at the Fair & Expo Center.
How about a rodeo?
Capping a big week of things to do at Expo Center, the 14th F&F Finals Rodeo begins a two-night run Friday, providing area residents another event they can enjoy.
Producers Dwight and Donna Frick had been hosting an open rodeo for decades at Claud Gill Arena before before the Marlow couple decided to partner with the Stephens County Fair Board and combine the rodeo with the Stephens County Free Fair.
As Roger Mallory recalled, "The F&F Finals had originally been holding its rodeo a week before the County Fair. But but the fair board asked if Dwight and Donna would change the schedule and have the rodeo the week of the fair. They also asked if the rodeo could move from Gill Arena to the indoor arena (at the Expo Center).
"Dwight and Donna agreed, and the year the fair celebrated it's 100th anniversary, the F&F Finals moved into the arena."
About the same time, Mallory ended a distinguished career by retiring from the Stephens County Sheriff's Department. He began giving his full attention to chairing the Gill Arena Association and to other rodeo activities.
