Aggie volleyball falls Saturday
Tarleton State University wrapped up the Lone Star Conference volleyball championship in the Cameron University gym Saturday by turning back the Aggies in straight sets.
Scores were 25-12, 25-20 and 25-14.
The Stephenville, Texas crew improves to 16-2 in LSC play and to 24-5 overall. Mary Schindler's club is ranked 14th in the AVCA coaches' poll and second in the South Central region.
CU falls to 7-20 and 3-15 with two matches remaining. The Aggies visit Midwestern State on Thursday and host Texas A&M Kingsville on Saturday.
Hailey Roberts, the 6-0 senior who leads the LSC in kills, was at again Saturday. She hammered home a dozen kills with just four errors for a .258 hitting percentage. She also had 10 digs.
Adriana Darthuy, seventh in the league in kills, picked up 10. Amber Strange added eight and Hannah McManus six for the TexAnns.
Paige Dixon, fourth in LSC kills, paced Cameron with eight. The Ags managed just 23 on the day and hit .087 to Tarleton's .290. Brittany Lawson added seven for CU. Britnee Altic had 12 of the team's digs.
Tarleton dominated the first set, racing to a 12-1 lead and coasting home. Cameron gave the TexAnns more than enough help by committing 12 errors – six in that opening span. TSU hit .324 to Cameron's minus-.029, with Roberts, Strange and Jordyn Keamo combining for nine of the 14 kills. Lawson and Dixon had two apiece for Cameron.
