The Oklahoma Healthy Aging Initiative (OHAI) is coordinating two Diabetes Empowerment Education Programs that begin Nov. 7 and end Dec. 12.
One class will be at 10 a.m. each Monday at the Lawton Public Library, 110 SW 4th, and one class will be at 2 p.m. every Monday afternoon at First Christian Church, 701 SW D.
Registrations are being taken now by contacting Emele Torres, 699-3976 or emerald-torresouhsc.edu.
There is no charge for the classes, but seating is limited to 15 at each location, according to Torres. Class is expected to last 1 to 2 hours.
Based on principles of empowerment and education, Diabetes Empowerment Education Program, or DEEP, was created to provide individuals and caregivers with tools to better manage diabetes.
