Hospital names new chief officer for nursing

Jayne Thomas has been named chief nursing officer (CNO) for Southwestern Medical Center effective today, according to Steve Hyde, the hospital's chief executive officer.

With almost three decades of nursing experience, including more than 20 years in leadership roles, Thomas is well-prepared for the position, having also earned board certification as Nurse Executive Advanced (NEA-BC) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the hospital said.

Strong record
"We are thrilled to welcome Jayne to Southwestern Medical Center and the Lawton community," Hyde said. "She brings impressive experience, education and achievements to her new role here. Her previous achievements show her dedication to ensuring the provision of the highest quality of care and exceptional service for patients. Supporting our nursing staff in achieving these goals will be her primary focus."

Thomas has been serving since 2012 as CNO at AllianceHealth Deaconess Hospital, a 300-bed, two-campus facility located in Oklahoma City. Prior to that she worked for 16 years at Denton Regional Medical Center in Denton, Texas, where, as CNO, she led the facility to achieve Magnet designation through American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
