Health dept. demonstrates healthy cooking
If you're looking to shed a few extra holiday pounds or just want to start the new year with a healthier food regimen, a series of free monthly cooking demonstrations may be just what you're looking for.
In researching how to be most effective in her chosen field, Ashley Lazzerini, community wellness dietician for the Comanche County Health Department, came up with the idea to host free cooking demonstrations.
From 6 to 7 p.m. Jan. 19, Lazzerini will present "Healthy Casseroles and Stews" at the health department, 1010 S. Sheridan. Folks who want to attend should watch for the green balloons near the southwest end of the WIC building. A door near the balloons will allow access and there's no income restriction for anyone who is interested.
Registration is necessary in order to plan for the number of samples for individuals. To register, text your first name and the number of people who will becoming, to 574-3760. People can register up to and on the day of the event.
Lazzerini said the demonstrations will allow working people to "get their paws on some live, hands-on nutrition education and instruction."
