Wichita Tribe to host moccasin workshop
ANADARKO Members of the Wichita Tribe have an opportunity to learn how to make traditional tribal footwear.
The Wichita Cultural Education Program has opened enrollment for tribal members interested in learning how to make moccasins. Classes will begin Jan. 18, 2018, and continue each Thursday at 6:30 p.m. for a total of seven classes. Each class will last approximately two hours and will be in the portable building at the Wichita Tribal Complex, according to program director Gary McAdams. The class is free.
Instructors are Amy and Krystal Caesar, who will guide participants through every step of the moccasin construction process. Enrollment is limited to 10 participants, who must enroll by Dec. 29. Priority will be given to enrolled members who are making moccasins to take part in traditional dances.
